Singer's award winning Heavy Duty machines are fantastic for when you want to have the strength to sew a pair of curtains, repair jeans, quilt or upholster, but can also sew lightweight fabrics as a regular machine would. There are no real drawbacks to getting a heavy duty machine.
The combination of more powerful motor, more metal components and a dual pulley system driving the needle gives you that extra penetration power to tackle the heavier projects when needed on a long lasting durable and dependable machine. They also sew faster than a regular machine at full speed should you want to, but are completely controllable going down to 1 stitch per second when using the foot controller.
The HD6605 has a great number of stitch patterns (100) as well as 1 step automatic buttonholes in multiple designs and automatic needle threader. It has built in stretch and overlocking stitch patterns and even blanket stitches which are rare to find on modern machines.
It's push button ease of use makes it a popular choice with all sewists from beginner to advanced.

The Singer Heavy Duty 6605C is built with a full metal frame to reinforce and hold in place its components when sewing at high speeds of up to 1100 stitches-per-minute. A heavy duty sewing machine with a motor that is 60% stronger than standard ones, it’s also 30% faster too, and has a selection of 100 stitch patterns with 215 applications.
Enhanced piercing power can see you sew tough fabrics with ease, including denim, faux fur, and thin types of leather. It can also deal with sewing multiple layers of fabric together without an issue. The free arm design helps you sew hems, and cuffs with less hassle so that tricky tubular costume features are no longer so awkward to achieve. The free arm is also great for quilting, and with the drop feed feature too, you can quilt freehand designs without fear of jamming your needle.
With an extra high presser foot setting so that thicker fabrics slide through without bunching, it also comes with a selection of feet for different stitches and types of sewing.
